This Men’s watch with Black Ion Finish and gleaming gold tone highlights makes for rich contrast in this Seiko watch. By the simple movement of your wrist, the rechargable battery charges itself. Once fully charged, it captures and stores energy up to six months. Kinetic – the most advanced electronic watch technology. Environmentally friendly. Features in a black dial accented by the gold hands and markers and the power reserve indicator. 100 meters water resistant.

Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

"stunning" 2010-02-11
By roger (canada)
This Seiko watch is absolutely stunning. From the instant i opened the box i fell in love with this marvelous timepiece. It's dead accurate, the fit and finish are great, and for being a kinetic watch it's profile is remarkably slim. the only fault i found was there is no back glow feature which is disappointing but i wouldn't have thought twice about purchasing another should i lose it.

"Great looking watch" 2009-09-15
By Thomas Harding (Atlantic City, NJ USA)
I saw this watch at Macy's and it looked great and felt good on my wrist but the price seemed just a little high. I saw the same exact watch at Amazon and purchased it $70.00 lower than at department store. Have neverhad so many comments on watch before I started wearing this one. Best watch I have ever bought and it was cheaper than expected. Would bnot have purchased through Amazon if not for reputation. If I ever need another watch I know where to go.

"Looks really good, but second hand broken after 3 months" 2009-09-06
By R. Podlinov
1. In my opinion the watches looks very attractive on the arm.
2. It's stainless case and band covered by something durable (after 3 months there aren't any scratches or marks).
3. Not lightweight. First week (after my previous titanium watches) I felt some weight on arm, but now it's ok. I don't feel it.

All above are good points, but ...

Today I've found out that the trotting second-hand is broken and disconnected from the pivot.
And it's not my fault (I didn't swap it; I was careful and accurate with the watches.)
Production defect? I don't know. But now I have to send it to service for repair.

"Great looking watch" 2009-04-15
By RajK
I bought this watch three weeks back and it looks great on my wrist. I love the fact that I do not have to take this watch to stores to replace batteries where the internal mechanism can be damaged by careless employees. The last Seiko I had lasted 20 years. Hope this one does too. The only issues I had were (1) the watch is a little heavier than the one it replaced and (2) the band adjustment needed was not easy and had to be done by professionals.

"Accurate and attractive" 2009-02-08
By Disco Pete (Severn, MD USA)
I've now had the watch about three weeks and it has lost about 1/2 of a second in that time, which is well within the 15 seconds per month mentioned in the warranty.

The ion plated finish is beautiful. It is dressier than watches I usually wear. I will be removing it before working on the car or digging in the yard.

The self charging feature works well. Movement during shipping had charged the watch up to a one month reserve, as indicated by the power reserve indicator. It was charged to the full 4 to 6 month reserve after about two days on my wrist.

My only disappointment is the performance of the LumiBrite glow-in-the-dark hands and markers. They shine brightly immediately after exposure to bright light but grow very dim after several hours in the dark. If readability in the dark is a priority for you, a watch with tritium hands and markers is a much better choice.
